On a tellement écrit sur le Manhattn que je me suis demandée si cela valait la peine que je vous en parle. Il est vrai que je ne suis pas une assidue des burgers et quand une envie se faisait sentir, on filait au Green Mango. Mais quand on veut sortir en famille pendant un jour férié, les chaînes de restaurant sont souvent une valeur sûre (il y en a 5 en Belgique). Les enfants étaient ravis de tester le Manhattn.
Nous avons été à celui de Mérode. Il y en a 3 sur Bruxelles. La décoration est évidemment moderne et à l’américaine. Elle n’est pas surchargée, on a le nom projeté sur le mur, des tables hautes, des néons. Il y a un grand comptoir où on passe la commande et à l’arrière, on aperçoit les cuisines. Le menu est imprimé en grand au-dessus de celui-ci (comme pour les fast-food) mais il se trouve également sur les tables. On peut attendre sa commande à table car on emporte un buzzer qui nous avertira quand aller la chercher. On récupère nos plats à un autre endroit que les caisses pour éviter l’embouteillage. Il y a une petite terrasse à l’avant du restaurant.
Il y a une dizaine de burgers dont le burger du mois qui est indiqué sur un tableau noir accroché au mur. On peut adapter le burger selon nos envies en rajoutant certains ingrédients. Avant que je ne regarde la carte, mon mari savait déjà ce que j’allais choisir. S’il y a une chose à laquelle je ne résiste pas longtemps, c’est la truffe. J’ai donc pris le Gatsby burger: bœuf Angus irlandais, Emmental suisse, champignons, mayonnaise truffée, bacon croustillant et laitue à 12,60 euros. Ce qui m’a vraiment plu, c’était le pain. Il était brioché, très tendre, doré sur le dessus et facile à manger avec la garniture. La viande était bien cuite, juteuse et était délicieuse avec cette mayonnaise truffée. Le burger était généreusement servi. On a choisi des frites normales (3,60 euros) et de patate douce (4,30 euros). Ca a suffi pour nous 4 et elles sont servies avec de la mayonnaise ou la sauce secrète. J’ai une préférence pour les frites de patate douce. Elles étaient légères et bien croustillantes.
Côté dessert, il y avait des milkshakes. Les enfants ont pris celui à l’Oreo à 6,50 euros. Ils sont assez copieux et étaient décorés de chantilly et des morceaux de biscuits. Je ne sais pas si les desserts varient selon l’endroit mais à celui de Mérode, il y n’y avait que les milkshakes.

So much has been written about the Manhattn that I wondered if it was worth telling you about it. It is true that I am not a burger addict and when I feel like eating one, we usually go to Green Mango. But when you want to go out with your family during a public holiday, restaurant chains are often a safe bet (there are 5 in Belgium). The kids were thrilled to test the Manhattn.
We have been to the one located at Merode. There are 3 in Brussels. The decor is obviously modern and with an American style. It is not overloaded, we have the name projected on the wall, high tables, neon lights… There is a large counter where we place the order and in the back, we see the kitchen. The menu is placed above it (as for the fast food) but it is also on the tables. We can wait for his order at table because we carry a buzzer that will warn us when to pick it up. We recover our dishes in a different place than the cashier to avoid the long lines. There is a small terrace at the front of the restaurant.
There are a dozen of burgers including the burger of the month which is indicated on a blackboard hanging on the wall. We can adapt the burger according to our desires by adding some ingredients. Before I looked at the menu, my husband already knew what I was going to choose. If there is one thing I can not resist for a long time, it’s the truffle. So I took the Gatsby burger: Irish Angus beef, Swiss Emmental, mushrooms, truffled mayonnaise, crisp bacon and lettuce for 12.60 euros. What really pleased me was the bread. It was a brioche, very tender, golden on the top and easy to eat with the filling. The meat was well cooked, juicy and was delicious with this truffled mayonnaise. The burger was generously served. We chose normal fries (3.60 euros) and sweet potato (4.30 euros). It was enough for us 4 and they are served with mayonnaise or secret sauce. I have a preference for sweet potato fries. They were light and crispy.
On the dessert side, there were milkshakes. The kids took the one with Oreo at 6.50 euros. They are quite hearty and were decorated with whipped cream and pieces of cookies. I do not know if the desserts vary according to the place but at the one in Mérode, there were only milkshakes.
