J’ai profité du Festival de la Gastronomie organisé par La Fourchette pour enfin aller rendre une petite visite à l’Oriento. On m’en avait déjà dit beaucoup de bien. Ils ont deux adresses et je vais vous parler de celle à Auderghem, située tout près du Centre Culturel (l’autre étant sur la place Jourdan). Idéal pour combiner avec une soirée au théâtre.
La première surprise vient de l’endroit: il est gigantesque. Quand on entre, on se trouve dans un très bel espace boisé, tout en longueur, les cuisines se trouvant dans le fond. Mais on n’est pas encore au bout de nos surprises car il y a un étage qu’on peut facilement privatiser avec des fauteuils et même un bar. Pour couronner le tout, on a droit à une superbe terrasse couverte qui peut être chauffée et au bout, un jardin qui doit encore être aménagé. Les possibilités sont donc nombreuses si vous venez avec un grand groupe. La décoration est assez sobre.
La cuisine de l’Oriento est syro-libanaise. Nous sommes venues manger pour le lunch et il y a une formule buffet à volonté à 14,50 euros. Le prix est vraiment intéressant et le buffet (uniquement salé) est plus que généreux. Si on a un petit appétit, on peut payer au poids. On a un large choix de légumes marinés, de chaussons de viande, légumes ou fromage, de dips… Il y a aussi des plats chauds à base de viande mijotée de grillades et accompagnés de riz ce jour-là.
Certaines personnes se méfient des buffets mais la gourmande que je suis a toujours adoré cette formule. Ça me permet vraiment de goûter l’étendue de la cuisine. Ici, c’était vraiment raffiné et j’ai beaucoup apprécié les assaisonnements et les herbes utilisées. J’ai évidemment goûté le houmous qui passe haut la main mais également les falafel, plusieurs chaussons fourrés, la salade de lentilles vertes, les chou-fleurs rôtis qui étaient excellents… Ce buffet fera aussi plaisir aux végétariens qui pour une fois, auront un large choix.
Je n’ai malheureusement pas testé leurs desserts ce jour-là. Je me suis tellement servie au buffet qu’un thé à la menthe a suffi à mon bonheur.
Il y a aussi un formule brunch à 22,50 euros les dimanche avec un assortiment de viennoiseries, des pâtisseries, un buffet de plats froids et chauds, une boisson chaude et un jus de fruits frais. Si vous venez le soir, il y a des menus Solo à 30 euros ou Duo à 50 euros. Une très belle adresse qui devraient combler toutes vos envies gustatives.

I took advantage of the Gastronomy Festival organized by The Fork to finally pay a visit to the Oriento. People had already told me lots good things about it. They have two addresses and I will write about the one in Auderghem, located near the Cultural Center (the other being place Jourdan). Ideal for combining with an evening at the theater.
The first surprise is the location: it is gigantic. When you enter, you find yourself in a beautiful wooded area, all in length, the kitchen is located at the back. But we are not yet at the end of our surprises as there is a floor that can easily be privatized with armchairs and even a bar. To top it all, we are spoiled with a superb covered terrace that can also be heated and at the end, there is garden that still need to be renovated. The possibilities are many if you come with a large group. The decoration is quite sober.
The kitchen of the Oriento of the Syrian-Lebanese. We came to eat for lunch and there is a buffet all-you-can-eat formula for 14.50 euros. The price is really interesting and the buffet (only salty) is more than generous. If you have a small appetite, you can pay by the weight. It has a wide selection of pickled vegetables, meat, shoes, vegetables or cheese, dips … There are also meat cooked and simmered, grilled meat with rice on that day.
Some people are wary of buffets (low quality) but being a big eater I always loved this formula. It really allows me to taste the extent of the cuisine. Here, it was really fine and I enjoyed the seasonings and herbs used. I obviously tasted the hummus which was great but also the falafel, several fried snacks, salad of green lentils, roasted cauliflower which were excellent… It will also please vegetarians who for once will have a wide choice.
Unfortunately, I did not try their desserts that day. I got so ma refills at the buffet that a mint tea was enough for my happiness.
There is also a brunch for 22.50 euros on Sundays with an assortment of croissants, pastries, a buffet of hot and cold dishes, a hot drink and a fresh fruit juice. If you come in the evening, there are menus Solo for 30 euros or Duo for 50 euros. A great address that should satisfy all your taste desires.
